Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield is a Distinguished Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics, Vice Chair of the Department of Dermatology and Chief of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. He received his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, completed his Pediatrics residency and chief residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Eichenfield’s clinical interests include inflammatory skin diseases (including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne and others), neonatal dermatology, rare skin disorders, nevi and laser surgery. He has authored more than 500 journal articles and has served as the senior editor of Neonatal and Infant Dermatology and The Eczemas. Dr. Eichenfield has served in multiple leadership positions including being a co-founder and Chair of the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA), past president of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, a founding board member and President of the American Acne and Rosacea Society, Board Member of the AAD, and serves as Director of the Rady/UCSD Eczema and Inflammatory Skin Disease Center, President-elect of the International Eczema Council and Chair of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Councils of the National Eczema Association.
